For the first time A US Presidents signature appears on the dollar

Khaberni  - The U.S. Treasury Department announced plans to place the signatures of U.S. President Donald Trump and Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent on the American dollar to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

Bisent said: "There is no better way to celebrate the historic achievements of our great country and President Donald Trump than by issuing American dollars bearing his name."

He noted that printing Trump’s signature on the American currency is "not only appropriate, but fully deserved" due to his contributions to history as the "architect of the golden age of the American economic renaissance."

The signature of President Donald Trump will appear alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bisent with the issuance of the new $100 bills in June 2026, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

It is noted that independence adopted its declaration in 1776, freeing the United States from the control of the British Empire. The declaration was ratified by Congress on July 2, 1776 in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), and two days later, Congress approved a revised version of the document and ordered it to be printed and distributed to the public, making July 4 the founding day of the United States.

Since 1861, when the U.S. government first issued federal paper currency, the signatures that appeared on the dollar were limited to the Secretary of the Treasury and the U.S. Treasurer. U.S. Presidents were honored by having their portraits on paper and coin currency only after their deaths.

Although portraits of presidents have always been present on paper and coin currency (such as Washington on the 100-dollar bill, and Lincoln on the 5-dollar bill), placing the signature of a current president represents a departure from traditions that have lasted for more than a century and a half.
