ElSeketioui Rejected in the Locker Room Atlas Lions

Khaberni - Media reports have revealed a situation of reservations within the Moroccan national team camp regarding the possibility of appointing Tariq El-Seketioui as coach of the national team in the upcoming stage, amid increasing talk of a lack of enthusiasm from part of the locker room for this technical option.

The Moroccan national team newspaper reported that some players in the "Atlas Lions" are not fully convinced of the idea of El-Seketioui taking over the national team if Walid Regragui’s services are dispensed with, considering that the current stage requires a coach with greater international experience, capable of handling the high pressures and upcoming continental and world commitments, especially after the heightened ambitions surrounding the team in recent years.

It indicated that this rejection is not collective, but limited to a group of players, reflecting a divergence of views within the group, between those who see in El-Seketioui a national option deserving of the chance, and those who prefer a name with a broader experience at the level of major national teams.

It added: "This debate comes at a sensitive time, as the Moroccan football street awaits the decision of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation regarding the identity of the next coach, amid demands for the necessity of maintaining technical stability, and ensuring the continuation of the sports project that achieved notable successes in the past period."

It concluded: "The position of the federation is decisive in this matter, as it seeks to achieve balance between the aspirations of the players, the expectations of the fans, and the requirements of the upcoming stage, which requires precise decisions to avoid any tension that might negatively reflect on the atmosphere of the Moroccan team and its performance before the 2026 World Cup."
