Khaberni - Mohamed Salah's family, the player for Liverpool and the Egyptian national team, announced the death of his maternal grandfather on Monday, and the body was buried after the noon prayer in Nagrig village, Gharbia governorate.
Hajj Ahmed Abdel Aziz al-Bambi, the player's grandfather, passed away after suffering a health problem, leaving this world at his home surrounded by his family in his hometown of Nagrig, which is also Mohamed Salah's hometown.
Abdel Aziz al-Bambi, son of the deceased and Mohamed Salah's uncle, announced the death of his father in a post on Facebook, saying: "To God we belong, and to Him we shall return.. My father has passed away."
Mohamed Salah's Absence
The villagers also followed the coffin this afternoon to bid farewell to the famous player’s grandfather, before he was buried in the village cemetery in Gharbia governorate. The player's father, Salah Ghaly, and his brother Nasser Salah attended the funeral, while the player Mohamed Salah was absent.
The Egyptian Football Association issued an official statement mourning Mohamed Salah, captain of the Egyptian national team and Liverpool, which stated: "Engineer Hany AbouRida, president of the Egyptian Football Association, the board members, the general secretary, the technical staff of the national teams, and all employees, extend their deepest condolences and sympathy to the Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, captain of Egypt and Liverpool, on the passing of his blessed maternal grandfather.. praying Almighty God to bestow His vast mercy upon him and to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.. To God we belong, and to Him we shall return."
Reason for Absence
It is expected that Salah's absence from the funeral is due to his presence in the United Kingdom for a Liverpool match against Sunderland in the English Premier League.
