Khaberni - An unusual incident occurred in Tifu Town in Sichuan Province, China, where a local farmer caused a power outage in the entire village for more than 10 hours, after trying to transport a live pig using a drone across mountainous terrain.
The farmer used the drone to transport the New Year's pig from the top of the mountain to the bottom before the scheduled slaughter, intending to complete the task before sunrise, according to the "economic times".
However, poor night vision led to the drone's hanging rope colliding with high-voltage power lines, causing the drone and pig to hang in the air and an electrical fault that cut off the power to the village.
The farmer tried to resolve the problem himself without immediately notifying the authorities, which delayed the repair process. When the electricity department was contacted, a team of 12 workers needed a full 10 hours to remove the debris and repair the damaged lines, at a cost of about 10,000 Chinese yuan.
The local police confirmed that the farmer faces charges of "operating a drone in a restricted area," and could be subject to financial penalties or be forced to pay the repair costs if his violation of the laws is proven.
In an official context, the Chinese Ministry of Public Security recently pointed out an increase in unauthorized drone use in recent years, warning of the risks they pose to aviation movement and public safety, including incidents of flying near commercial aircraft paths and illegal alterations of devices to exceed allowed altitudes.
