Khaberni - The German police in the city of Trier, western Germany, fired at a man who was walking on Saturday afternoon carrying a knife in the pedestrian area.
The police reported that the man was injured as a result, but the injury does not pose a threat to his life. No information about the background of the incident is yet available.
Several eyewitnesses informed the security forces that a man was walking carrying a knife in his hand and addressing passersby in the pedestrian area.
A few minutes later, the police were able to spot the suspect on Moselle Street. The police said: "During which at least one officer used his firearm against the man".
The police continued that the injured was taken to the hospital. The police are still deployed in large numbers in the pedestrian area, and have cordoned off the place.
