Khaberni - Twin children in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq lost their lives on Saturday due to inhaling gas from a burning heater in their home while they were asleep at night.
The tragic incident occurred to the children (a girl and her brother), who were both 6 years old, in the district of "Rania" which is part of the “Raparin” administration in the northern region of Iraq.
The children died from suffocation due to the gas emitted from the heater inside their home, before being transferred to the hospital, according to the Iraqi “Shafaq News” agency.
Kurdistan Region's provinces and other Iraqi provinces have previously recorded similar incidents due to inhaling gases emitted from heaters left burning during sleep periods due to cold weather, coupled with closed windows, leading to suffocations and fires that have claimed families' lives.
