Ahmed Zaher recounts shocking details about considering suicide

Khaberni - Artist Ahmed Zaher revealed new and exciting details about his illness period during which he was compelled to distance himself from the artistic community for three years. He spoke about contemplating suicide, clarifying that he was the leading young star before his absence, then returned to start his journey afresh after his recovery.

Ahmed Zaher said in a press symposium honoring him: "When I came back from the illness, I returned with minor roles that were neither fitting for me nor for my value, size, or name, and I started ascending the ladder again."

He added: "The illness set me back three years and I returned from the bottom without lamenting how unfair it was. During the illness, I thought about leaving the world, not just acting. Being unable to work was killing me, and I was the one apologizing personally because I did not want to be seen in that condition."

Ahmed Zaher: I was affected by criticism in a scene with Adel Imam
Regarding the onset of his illness, Ahmed Zaher said: "At the beginning of the illness, I appeared with Adel Imam in a scene, and my body started to gain weight, and the critics came out asking how? What do they mean how? It was very harsh and it troubled me, and after that my body swelled beyond that form, and this was beyond my control, it was in God’s hands."

He added: "This was the worst period of my life, and when I returned, I started from the beginning. Before I disappeared, I was the top young hero, and roles would come to me first, and if I turned one down, it would go to someone else. When I returned, I started my way down and people who used to address me respectfully did not upset or bother me."

It is worth noting that Ahmed Zaher achieved great success through his latest drama work "The Game Really Changed," in which he starred alongside: Rahma Ahmed, Omar El-Shenawy, and Hajjaj Abdel Azim..., directed by Hatem Metwally.
