The German government, on Wednesday, rejected calls to boycott the upcoming World Cup in soccer, scheduled for next summer in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, after U.S. President Donald Trump backtracked on his threats to take over Greenland.
The government spokesperson, Steffen Mayer, said at a press conference in Berlin that boycotting the championship would not be "the right approach".
He added: Political disputes should be settled at the political level, and sports disagreements should be left at the sports level.
