Khaberni - Chelsea legend and former England national team player John Terry is facing a storm of criticism that might threaten his professional future, after he engaged with a controversial political post calling for a ban on the niqab in the United Kingdom.
According to press reports, Terry might be at risk of losing his role within the London club due to his indirect support of ideas considered extremist by many.
The crisis began when politician Robert Lu, an independent parliament member and founder of the "Restore Britain" party, posted a picture on "Instagram" advocating for the ban on niqabs and mandating the use of only English in London metro signs, accompanied by a sharp comment about "restoring the capital".
Terry reacted to the post using "clapping" emojis and the England flag, which was interpreted as clear support for this view. Although he deleted his reaction in less than an hour, screenshots had already widely spread across social networks.
This behavior placed him in a sensitive position within Chelsea, where he has been working as a coaching consultant at the academy since 2021, especially since the club's policies focus on inclusion, diversity, and the rejection of any forms of discrimination.
So far, the club has not issued any official comment, and Terry's representatives have remained silent, which increases the uncertainty around his future.
