Khaberni - A recent scientific study revealed that daily stair climbing could help reduce the risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases, as effectively as walking 10,000 steps daily, according to the scientific journal Atherosclerosis.
The study noted that climbing at least 50 stairs daily is associated with up to a 20% reduction in the risk of heart disease, as this simple physical activity helps activate the cardiovascular system, and lowers blood pressure and harmful cholesterol levels.
Researchers based their findings on analyzing data from the UK Biobank, involving about 450,000 adults, whose health was monitored over an average period of 12.5 years, focusing on coronary artery disease, stroke, and acute cardiac complications.
The researchers indicated that achieving the recommended daily walking goal can be difficult for many people, while stair climbing is an activity that is easier and more feasible for everyday life.
The study concluded that short periods of high-intensity stair climbing can be an effective way to improve heart health and fat metabolism, especially for those who are unable to adhere to traditional physical activity recommendations.
