Khaberni - The spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate said that the Cybercrimes Unit warns against buying gold through advertisements published on social media pages.
The spokesperson confirmed that the unit dealt with several fraud complaints in the past days involving buying gold through social media pages, where the fraud complaints involved purchasing gold and transferring funds to the fraudster, who then disappears without sending the agreed-upon gold purchases. In another instance, the fraudster sends what was agreed upon; however, upon inspection, the buyer finds the metal to be counterfeit, not gold, or mixed with other metals such as iron or copper.
The spokesperson urged everyone not to deal with these pages and, if wishing to buy gold, to head to licensed shops and not to conduct gold purchases except from approved, licensed, and official outlets.
