Chronic Tonsillitis Risks

Khaberni  - Dr. Alexander Litkin, an ENT specialist, reports that the impact of chronic tonsillitis is not limited to the throat but affects all body organs.

According to him, it has been scientifically proven that chronic inflammation in the tonsils directly affects the heart functions primarily, including the valves, heart muscle, and pericardium - the main targeted organ that may lead to rheumatism, myocarditis, and heart defects.

He warns, "The next important targeted organ is the kidneys, or rather the renal tubules, where the risk of glomerulonephritis increases. The connective tissue can also be affected, leading to collagen diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and scleroderma, in addition to eczema and neurodermatitis."

The doctor confirms that the disease is often diagnosable from its distinctive symptoms. The main symptoms of chronic tonsillitis, which has become chronic, include persistent sore throat, tonsil stones (Tonsillolith), general weakness, and bad breath. Also, situations where taking a sip of a cold drink leads to a sore throat or even slight exposure to cold leading to a sore throat are also distinctive signs of chronic tonsillitis.

According to Dr. Vladimir Polybuk, an immunology specialist, one of the most effective ways to quickly treat a sore throat is to gargle regularly, as it helps to moisturize the mucous membrane and expel bacteria and accumulated matter.

He recommends preparing a gargling solution with salt and baking soda, using half a teaspoon of salt and baking soda per cup of warm water.
