Khaberni - Research published by the cybersecurity company "Wiz" on Monday revealed that a trendy new social network, where AI agents exchange programming codes and news about their human owners, suffers from a major flaw that has exposed private data of thousands of individuals.
"Wiz," in a blog post, stated that the platform "Moltbook," similar to "Reddit" and promoted as a "social network specifically designed for artificial intelligence agents," accidentally exposed private messages exchanged between agents, email addresses of over 6,000 owners, and more than a million credentials, according to "Reuters".
Matt Schlecht, the founder of "Moltbook," previously promoted the concept of "vibe coding," a practice of programming software with the help of artificial intelligence. In a message published on the "X" site on Friday, Schlecht said he "has not written a single line of programming code" for the site.
Ami Lutwak, the co-founder of Wiz, said that the security issue identified by the company has been fixed after contacting "Moltbook," describing it as a classic side effect of vibe coding.
Lutwak added: "As we see time and again with vibe coding, despite its high speed, people often forget the basics of security."
At least one other expert, Jamison O'Reilly, a specialist in offensive security residing in Australia, has publicly pointed out similar issues. O'Reilly said in a message that the "Moltbook" platform gained significant popularity quickly "before anyone thought to check whether the database was properly secured."
"Moltbook" benefits from the global interest in artificial intelligence agents, designed to perform tasks independently rather than just responding to user commands. Most of the recent media buzz focused on an open-source robot now called "OpenClaw," described by its users as a digital assistant capable of seamlessly managing emails, communicating with insurance companies, booking flights, and performing many other tasks.
"Moltbook" is marketed exclusively for "OpenClaw" robots and is considered a collaborative workspace where artificial intelligence agents can exchange information about their work or chat.
Since its launch last week, the platform has drawn significant attention from those in the artificial intelligence field, partly fueled by widely circulated posts on the X platform suggesting these robots were attempting to find private ways to communicate.
