Release of the sixth issue of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions magazine in Arabic and English

Khaberni -  The sixth issue of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions magazine was recently released, in both Arabic and English, and includes comprehensive coverage of the federation's activities and events, alongside the most significant labor and union issues on both local and international levels.

The issue discusses a variety of topics and key reports in its files, notably the discussions held by the federation with the International Labour Organization about a mutual cooperation framework to enhance decent work for women in Jordan, a move that reflects both parties' commitment to supporting women's participation in the labor market and improving their professional conditions.

The issue also highlights the signing of a cooperation protocol between the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions and the General Federation of Iraqi Workers, which enhances Arab labor relations and expands the prospects for joint coordination on labor issues.

The issue includes coverage of the participation of the Mining and Mining Syndicate in a training session held in Cairo, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of union leaders and developing their organizational and negotiation skills.

In internal union affairs, the magazine highlighted statements by the federation's president Khalid Al-Fanatseh, who emphasized that allocating “quotas” for youth and women in union leadership positions is a necessary step to advance union work and inject new blood into its organizational structures, confirming that empowering union leadership represents a practical commitment to building a new generation of union leaders.

The issue addresses the importance of the labor market data system, as Al-Fanatseh considers this system to be an important step serving the objectives of labor unions in planning and monitoring workers' conditions.

The magazine also covered the labor disputes file, noting that since the beginning of the year, the Ministry of Labor has dealt with 31 labor disputes, ending with the signing of 29 collective work agreements, indicating the importance of social dialogue in resolving labor disagreements.

In a related context, Al-Fanatseh stressed that tripartite dialogue among production parties is necessary to address the effects of regional crises on workers, noting that the influx of large numbers of Syrian workers into the Jordanian labor market has increased competition for job opportunities.

The issue also included coverage of a visit by the president of the “Friedrich Ebert” Foundation to the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, where Al-Fanatseh confirmed that the partnership with the foundation forms a fundamental pillar for enhancing workers' rights and supporting training programs and capacity building.

The magazine also highlighted the activities of the women's committee in the federation and its meeting with the Women's Studies Center to discuss cooperation mechanisms and partnerships, in addition to a workshop organized by the Port Syndicate in cooperation with the Transport Workers' Union on empowering union leaders.

The release of the sixth issue of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions magazine is part of the federation's commitment to documenting its activities, highlighting labor issues, and enhancing communication with local and international readers through the publication of the magazine in both Arabic and English.
