Khaberni - US President Donald Trump told reporters that India will buy Venezuelan oil instead of buying oil from Iran.
Trump told reporters on board "Air Force One" on his way from Washington to Florida "We have already reached a deal on this matter, or rather, the idea of a deal".
He added that China is also welcome to make a deal with the United States to buy Venezuelan oil.
Trump's statement came a day after the United States informed Delhi that it could soon resume buying Venezuelan oil to help compensate for Russian oil imports, according to three informed sources reported by Reuters.
The US efforts to supply India with Venezuelan crude oil come as part of Washington's aim to reduce Russia's oil revenues that contribute to funding its war in Ukraine.
Trump had imposed a 25% tariff on countries importing Venezuelan oil, including India, in March of last year.
The Venezuelan National Assembly had approved, under pressure from the United States, a reform to the hydrocarbon sources law that would open the sector to private companies and reduce taxes, allowing for more beneficial contracts for companies.
This reform, which will open the door for foreign investment, came less than a month after the US military intervention in Venezuela that led to the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro on January 3.
