Trial Day Details of the first day of opening the Rafah Crossing

Khaberni - The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation confirmed that Israel will allow members of the technocrat government to enter Gaza over the coming days, through the Rafah Crossing in a step described as a "gesture of goodwill towards US President Donald Trump".

The Rafah Crossing is scheduled to open for the first time today, Sunday, as part of a limited trial operation, according to Channel 15 in Israel, which also reported based on a security official that Egypt has transferred to the Israeli side lists of the names of the first travelers, to apply security screening procedures.

A source at the border told Agence France-Presse that Sunday will be primarily dedicated to preparations and logistical aspects, especially with the arrival of a delegation from the Palestinian Authority, and it will allow, "on a trial basis", the transfer of wounded, according to what three other sources at the crossing reported to the agency.

These sources mentioned that "no agreement has yet been concluded regarding the number of Palestinians allowed to enter and exit," explaining that Egypt plans to allow the entry of "all Palestinians that Israel will allow to leave."

It is expected that actual traveler movement at the crossing will commence on Monday, allowing for 150 people to depart from Gaza and 50 to return daily, according to Channel 15.

The channel conveyed that "the Israeli side hopes that the number of departures will be higher than those willing to return to Gaza."

On its part, Egypt called on all parties in Gaza to adopt "maximum restraint" on the eve of the anticipated opening of the Rafah Crossing, and pleaded in a statement "for all parties to fully adhere to their responsibilities during this critical phase, contributing to the maintenance and sustainability of the ceasefire."

It is noted that the Rafah Crossing is the only land crossing connecting Gaza to the outside world without passing through Israel, located in the territories still controlled by the Israeli occupation forces since May 2024, and it was previously reopened briefly at the beginning of 2025.
