Death of Home Alone star Catherine OHara at 71

Khaberni - Death has claimed veteran Canadian actress Catherine O'Hara, one of the most prominent comedy icons in Hollywood, at the age of 71, according to what her manager confirmed to several American media outlets, without revealing the cause of death so far.

The late star was globally famous for her roles in movies like "Home Alone" and "Beetlejuice," in addition to her notable comedic works with director Christopher Guest and the series "Schitt’s Creek."

Who is Catherine O'Hara?
Catherine O'Hara was born in Toronto, Canada, in 1954, and grew up in a large family of seven children, where her father worked for the Canadian railways, while her mother was a real estate agent.

Her passion for acting began early; her first theatrical appearance was through a school performance, before she later joined the "Second City" theater in Toronto, where she worked as a waitress in her early days.


Catherine O'Hara's artistic career
In 1974, she officially joined the "Second City" troupe, which marked a major turning point in her artistic career. During this time, she performed alongside a group of comedy stars, including Dan Aykroyd and Joe Flaherty, launching an artistic journey that spanned more than five decades. O'Hara won her first Emmy Award for her work in the Second City Television program.

Throughout her career, the late actress presented a number of prominent cinematic roles, including "After Hours" and "Beetlejuice," as well as participating in the first and second parts of the movie "Home Alone," where she portrayed the role of "Kevin's" mother, played by Macaulay Culkin, a role that established her presence to an international audience.

She starred alongside Eugene Levy, Dan Levy, and Annie Murphy in a role that brought her back to prominence in the art scene and received widespread critical acclaim.
