The Virtue of Fasting on White Days a Confirmed Prophetic Tradition and a Multiplied Reward

Khaberni - Every new lunar month brings the opportunity to seize a great virtue, a confirmed Prophetic tradition, which is the fasting of the white days, these blessed days which fall on the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth of every lunar month, and carry within them spiritual and health dimensions worthy of reflection and revival.

The fasting of the white days for the month of Sha'ban starts on Sunday, February 1, and continues on Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3.

The white days are a confirmed Prophetic tradition and offer a multiplied reward. Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him used to fast the white days of each month, which are the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth of each lunar month. Noble hadiths affirm the virtue of fasting these days, where the Prophet peace be upon him encouraged fasting them and enticed us through the hadith of Jarir bin Abdullah may Allah be pleased with him from the Prophet peace be upon him and his family, who said: «Fasting three days of each month is fasting for all of time, and the white days are the morning of the thirteenth, fourteenth, and fifteenth» narrated by An-Nasa'i and its chain is authentic as stated by the guard Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani in "Fath al-Bari".

This indicates the grand reward of fasting these days, as their reward is magnified to be equivalent to fasting for a lifetime.

Fasting

Why are they called white days? These days are called "the white days" because of the moon’s brightness at night and the sun's brightness during the day, as the moon is full, illuminating its three nights with complete brightness. This description adds a distinctive spiritual and visual beauty to them.

We ask Allah to help us revive this blessed Prophetic tradition, to strive and seize its virtues as fasting 3 days every month is an easy worship and its reward is immense, and it offers a chance for renewing faith and drawing closer to Allah Almighty.

Let us make the white days recurring spiritual stations in our lives, drawing closer to Allah through obedience, fasting, remembering, and supplication, and thereby earning reward and blessings in this life and the hereafter.
