RussianEmirati Summit in Moscow to Enhance Cooperation

Khaberni - Russian President Vladimir Putin meets today, January 29, 2026, with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on an official visit to Moscow.
The meeting will address areas of bilateral cooperation, the situation in the Middle East, and other international issues.

The visit comes after Abu Dhabi recently hosted representatives from Russia, the United States, and Ukraine, in a move in which Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed expressed his country's readiness to facilitate the exchange of prisoners between Moscow and Kyiv.

The leaders last met at the Kremlin in early August 2025, discussing economic cooperation and the Israeli-Palestinian file. They also met in person in October 2024 on the sidelines of the participation of the UAE President in the BRICS summit in Kazan. Putin visited Abu Dhabi in 2023 to discuss ways to develop relations and regional issues. The presidents continue to communicate regularly by telephone, with the most recent calls in March, May, and June 2025.

The UAE is one of Russia's most prominent trading partners in the Arab world, with trade volume between the two countries reaching $8.9 billion from January to September 2025.

The tourism sector forms a main pillar in the relations, with over two million Russian tourists annually, supported by more than 200 direct flights weekly from dozens of Russian cities.

In 2025, the UAE became the largest importer of fresh chicken eggs from Russia (7200 tons), and emerged as a major importer of non-alcoholic Russian beer.

The two countries also cooperate in international organizations, including the United Nations and the Eurasian Economic Union. The UAE officially joined the BRICS group in 2024, enhancing the institutional framework for strategic cooperation between the two sides.
