Palestinian Delegate at the United Nations Ceasefire in Gaza Did Not Stop the Destruction

Khaberni - The Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, warned that since the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip under the plan of the American President Donald Trump, about 500 Palestinians have been martyred, and the destruction continued.

Mansour confirmed, in the regular meeting held by the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, the Palestinian support for the peace plan because it "provided an immediate path to end the killing and suffering and the unprecedented humanitarian disaster, famine, and catastrophe that the Palestinian people in Gaza are undergoing."

He emphasized that "the full implementation of the first phase commitments of the plan, including the immediate cessation of killings and providing unrestricted humanitarian access throughout Gaza, is essential."

He welcomed the completion of the process of releasing all Israeli detainees. However, he questioned about "the countless Palestinian families who have lost their loved ones, with thousands of bodies still buried under the rubble, not yet found or recognized, and not buried decently."

He emphasized that the continuation and success of the ceasefire require that Israel must stop trying to impose its vision for the future of Gaza and must completely withdraw from the strip.

He warned of "the serious Israeli escalation against cities, villages, and Palestinian refugee camps in the West Bank".

Despite everything, he pointed out that "we still see an opportunity for peace." He added that "there should be no administrative or legal, or rather illegal, measures that entrench division and occupation, rather than putting an end to them."

Mansour affirmed their readiness to work with the United States and regional and international partners to ensure respect for the ceasefire agreement in accordance with international law.
