Khaberni - The President of Petra University, Professor Dr. Rami Abdul Rahim, honored the distinguished graduate, journalist Zaid Khalifat, as part of a program executed by the Student Affairs Deanship at the university to honor graduates who have achieved significant presence and excellence in their fields of work.
Dr. Abdul Rahim confirmed during the ceremony that Petra University is proud of its outstanding graduates who prove their presence and proficiency in various work fields, pointing out that the successes achieved by the university graduates in prestigious media institutions reflect the quality of education provided by the university and its commitment to academically and professionally prepare its students. He added that the university will continue its support for its graduates and enhance communication with them as ambassadors in their various positions.
The honor was in recognition of the outstanding professional career Khalifat achieved in the media field; joining Al-Mamlaka TV in 2017 as a field reporter, he covered many significant events in Jordan, including the Salt terrorist incident, the Dead Sea tragedy, and the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as producing news reports, human stories, and live coverages from various Jordanian governorates, and conducting interviews with officials and medical specialists, in addition to following the repercussions of the Gaza and Sheikh Jarrah events, and covering the sit-ins around the Israeli embassy in Amman. He also participated in external coverages in Saudi Arabia, and won the second Arab prize in the Al-Ahsa contest for the best TV report and news coverage.
Before joining Al-Mamlaka TV, Khalifat worked as a correspondent for a number of Arab channels, including Egypt’s News Network ANA, Iraq’s Nahrain Channel, Orient Channel, and Bahrain Channel for six years, as well as working as a news producer at Al Arabiya and MBC – Amman office, during the period from 2004 to 2017.
Khalifat was born in Amman and graduated from Petra University in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Media, also obtaining a Master's degree in Modern Journalism and Media from the Jordan Media Institute at the University of Jordan. He is known as one of the prominent Jordanian journalists, noted for his professional style in presenting news and reports that address political, economic, and social issues, with a clear focus on the concerns of the citizens and community issues.
The dean of the Media College, Professor Dr. Ali Nejadat, the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Eyad Al-Mallah, and the Director of Public and International Relations Department, Alaeddin Arabiyat, attended the honoring ceremony.
