Khaberni - The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship announced the results of the survey on the use and spread of telecommunications and information technology in homes for the year 2024, indicating that this data is fundamental for measuring progress in the digital transformation journey and identifying existing gaps. The results also contribute to shaping policies and strategies that enhance digital dissemination and provide citizens with the necessary skills for achieving sustainable development. Additionally, these indicators are a primary entry point for international reports such as those of the International Telecommunication Union, thereby enhancing Jordan's global standing and reflecting its ongoing efforts in the digital field.

Spread of Internet Usage Among Households and Individuals

The survey results show that Jordanian households and individuals are more connected than ever before, with 96.5% of Jordanian households having Internet service at home, surpassing this rate in the capital province by 98%. The percentage of individuals who used the internet has risen from 92.5% in 2023 to 95.6% in 2024, thereby exceeding the global average of 67.6% and the average for the Arab region of 69.6%. The survey also showed that 94.8% of individuals use the Internet daily.

Spread of Smartphones and Spending on Them

The survey revealed that in 2024, 97.5% of households owned a mobile smartphone, compared to 95.7% in 2023. At the provincial level, the availability of smartphones in Amman reached 99%, the highest rate among the provinces. The average monthly household spending on fixed phones was 15.2 dinars, and on mobile phones, 21.2 dinars, compared to the averages of 2023 which were 17.1 dinars for fixed phones and 22.6 dinars for mobile phones.

Ownership of Computers and Digital Skills

The survey results showed an increase in the percentage of households owning a computer, reaching 42.4% compared to 36.4% in 2023, distributed among laptops (34.3%), tablets (21.6%), and desktop computers (15.2%). Regarding computer usage, the percentage of individuals using computers was 34.7%, with the most common digital skills being copy and paste (79.6%), downloading programs (64.1%), and setting up electronic presentations (324%).

Electronic Government Services

Regarding electronic government services, the survey results indicate that 38.1% of individuals accessed one of these services, with 98.9% of them indicating the ease of use, 99.0% confirming the speed of service, and 99.3% considering them complete electronically.

It is noted that the survey, conducted annually since 2007 in collaboration with the General Statistics Department, included in its 2024 edition a sample of 8270 households, ensuring representation at the level of the kingdom and its three regions (north, center, south) and at the provincial level, relying on the framework of the General Population and Housing Census of 2015.
