Meta Suspends Teenagers Access to AI Personas

Khaberni - Meta announced on Friday that it would suspend teenagers' access to the current AI personas across all its apps globally while it is working on creating an updated version for users in this age group.

Meta added in an updated blog post about child protection, "Starting from the coming weeks, teenage boys will not be able to access AI personas through our apps until the updated experience is ready."

The new version of personas aimed at boys in this age group will come with parental control tools, once it becomes available.

In October, Meta showcased parental controls that allow parents to disable their teenagers' private conversations with AI personas, thus adding another measure to make its social media platforms safe for minors after severe criticisms were directed at it due to chatbot behaviors.

As mentioned by the company on Friday, these controls have not yet been launched.

Meta also clarified that its AI experiments for teenagers would be guided by the PG-13 movie rating system, as it looks to prevent teenagers from accessing inappropriate content.
