Khaberni - The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior announced that the General Directorate of Coast Guard managed to capture a speedboat with three Iranian nationals onboard, during their engagement in armed robbery and maritime piracy operations.
The ministry stated in a release that the capture followed the detection of an unidentified maritime target approaching the maritime border of the State of Kuwait, which was then intercepted according to approved security procedures, after it attempted to flee and maneuver, leading to the control of the speedboat and the arrest of the three suspects.
The ministry added that after completing search and investigation procedures, it was found that those captured were involved in carrying out piracy and armed robbery operations targeting Kuwaiti fishing boats and other marine units in the area, whereupon necessary legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the public prosecutor.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed its continued emphasis on strengthening security surveillance over Kuwaiti waters, and not lenient with any party or target that threatens the security of the State of Kuwait and the safety of sea-goers, stressing that Coast Guard personnel will remain vigilant against anyone who dares to compromise the country's security.
