Khaberni - The towel story has returned to headline news once again on the African continent, after the match between Wydad Casablanca and Maniema Union of Congo witnessed a new towel crisis similar to the African Cup final of 2025.
The African Cup final, which was won by the Senegal team, captured attention after it featured exciting events, including a struggle over goalkeeper Edouard Mendy's towel. Moroccan ball collectors chased and knocked down Senegal's substitute goalkeeper Yieven Diouf to steal Mendy's towels, which his teammate was trying to protect.
The website "Foot Africa" reported that the incident was repeated again in Morocco in the match that took place at Mohammed V Stadium on Sunday, as part of the African Confederation Cup, where the hosts attempted to seize the towels belonging to the Congolese team, leaving Maniema Union's bench in a state of confusion and annoyance.
It is worth noting that Wydad maintained its perfect start in Group Two of the group stage of the African Confederation Cup, after securing a challenging 1-0 victory over their guest, Maniema Union.
