Khaberni - Mohammad Al-Shawarbeh, the director of the Amman neighborhood development project said on Monday, that the fourth phase of The Station project "Alawi Army Street," as part of the national strategic project for the development of Amman's neighborhoods, is still ongoing and has not yet been completed. He indicated that the duration of its implementation ranges from 5 to 6 months.
Al-Shawarbeh clarified in his talk to "Al-Mamlaka" that this phase started with the removal of all encroaching buildings, in addition to disbursing compensations to house owners, which included housing subsidies and evacuation allowances. He pointed out that the current work is focused on widening the streets to fully alleviate the traffic crisis.
He confirmed that the ongoing work has not affected the traffic movement, and the Greater Amman Municipality has not faced any traffic issues during its execution. He pointed out that the Expropriation Department estimated the compensations for the residents, where 30% of the due amounts have been disbursed, with the remainder to be completed during the project execution period.
The Greater Amman Municipality has begun completing the fourth phase of The Station project "Alawi Army Street," within the national strategic project for the development of Amman's neighborhoods, which aims to implement traffic improvements on Army Street and Rifivan Al-Majali Street, in addition to creating urban spaces that serve the area.
On his part, Muhammad Abu Zeitoun, the executive director for the development of Amman neighborhood projects, stated that the completion works of the fourth phase include widening Alawi Army Street, removing all encroachments and buildings within the regulatory scope of the street, explaining that 6 buildings were demolished at the beginning of the fourth phase, and the works will continue with the demolition of 12 other buildings after completing the legal procedures.
Abu Zeitoun added that donations will be provided to the owners of the facilities that will be removed, along with an eviction allowance for every owner or tenant of an apartment or a commercial shop. He confirmed that the fourth and fifth phases will be implemented on Alawi Army Street and Rifivan Al-Majali Street by removing all encroachments on the regulatory scope of these streets, in addition to planning and organizing the area traffic-wise to serve the local community, as it is one of the main entrances to the capital, Amman.
