The Syrian Army Prepares to Open Two Humanitarian Corridors in AlHasakah and Aleppo

Khaberni - The Syrian news agency (SANA) attributed to the Media and Communication Department in the Ministry of Defense, Sunday, said that the Syrian army, in coordination with the governorates of Al-Hasakah and Aleppo, is preparing to open two humanitarian corridors which will be announced as soon as the preparations are completed.

The Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces announced on Saturday evening, a 15-day extension of the ceasefire agreement between them, to make room for completing the American operation to transfer "ISIS" detainees to Iraq.

Washington has begun the process of transferring thousands of detainees who were in prisons supervised by "QSD" in Syria, to Iraq, following the advance of the government forces at the expense of the Kurds in the north and northeast of Syria.

After the two parties had agreed on a ceasefire for four days ending Saturday night, they announced an extension of this understanding.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated in a statement "We announce the extension of the ceasefire deadline in all sectors of the operations of the Syrian Arab Army for a period of 15 days, starting from 23:00 (20:00 GMT)."

It confirmed that this comes "in support of the American operation to evacuate ISIS prisoners from QSD prisons to Iraq."

A ceasefire has been in place for several days as part of a broader understanding between the government and the Kurds, which provided for the completion of discussions on the future of integrating Kurdish institutions in Al-Hasakah province (in northeast Syria) within the framework of government institutions following the withdrawal of "QSD" from wide areas in the north and east of the country amid confrontations between it and government forces.
