Khaberni - Argentine star Lionel Messi received a harsh blow in the Peruvian capital, Lima, where his team, Inter Miami, suffered a heavy defeat against Alianza Lima with a score of 0-3 in their first preparatory match for the year 2026.
Lionel Messi started the match with a low physical effort to avoid injuries in a year where he expects a major commitment, namely defending the World Cup title with the Argentine national team, which allowed the Peruvian team to score two goals by veteran striker Paolo Guerrero and a third goal scored by Luis Ramos.
Messi actively participated for 63 minutes under the direction of his Argentine coach Javier Mascherano, forming an offensive triangle with Luis Suarez and Rodrigo de Paul.
Inter Miami played very cautiously, especially after Spanish player Sergio Reguilon suffered an injury in the early minutes.
Messi's threat was limited to a free kick which he executed brilliantly, but it slightly cleared the bar, before he left the pitch, replaced by American Daniel Pinter.
This match marks the second time Messi has played in Peru with Inter Miami, but it is his first on the historic "Alejandro Villanueva" stadium.
Messi continues his tour in South America with Inter Miami, facing Atletico Nacional in Medellin, Colombia, on January 31, before concluding his tour with a match against Barcelona of Ecuador in Guayaquil on February 7.
