The Fate of Syrian Journalist Firas AlBurjus Remains Unknown

Khaberni - Syrian Minister of Information Hamza Al-Mustafa announced that the fate of the detained Syrian journalist Firas Al-Burjus by "SDF" remains unknown, after his family confirmed his absence from Al-Aqtan prison in Al-Raqqa city.
Al-Mustafa explained in a post on the "X" platform, that "some sources indicate that SDF transferred Al-Burjus to a secret underground prison in the city of Ain Al-Arab/Kobani, after he was subjected to physical and psychological torture".

The "SDF" organization arrested Al-Burjus on December 8 last year, on the grounds of his work with government media entities, while the Ministry of Information held the organization responsible for Al-Burjus's safety and demanded his immediate release, stressing that it would spare no effort in doing so.

Earlier, the Syrian Network for Human Rights condemned the "arrest of the media activist Firas Al-Burjus by the Syrian Democratic Forces, his arbitrary detention, and the denial of communication with his family".

It also confirmed that "targeting journalists because of their media work constitutes a violation of freedom of opinion and expression, undermines the basic guarantees of a fair trial, and is a worrying indicator of restrictions on journalistic work".
