Jordanian Army Royal Directives on Army Restructuring Differ from National Service Reinstatement

Khaberni - Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hiyari, Military Media Director, stated that the royal directives to restructure the army are different from the issue of reinstating national service.

Al-Hiyari, in statements to “Al-Mamlaka” channel on Saturday, mentioned that the royal directives aim for an immediate and comprehensive restructuring access to the armed forces, through an overall strategy and a roadmap to achieve a structural transformation that encompasses the development of all units and formations of the Jordanian Armed Forces.

He indicated that the directives emphasized the need to modify the armament of the armed forces to align with modern systems, developments, and technologies, in addition to developing military education and enhancing military command and control systems on land, air, and sea.

He noted that the King's message for restructuring the Arab army comes at a time when regional events are accelerating, adding that His Majesty the King does not want the armed forces to wait or fall behind in keeping up with military technology.

Al-Hiyari explained that the required change should also include the establishment of a strategic reserve for the Jordanian Armed Forces, amid the crises and tensions witnessed in the region.

His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, directed the preparation of a strategy and a roadmap to achieve a structural transformation in the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army within the next three years, in a message to the Chief of Staff.
