The Independent Election Commission We do not interfere in the programs of parties or their political orientations

Khaberni - Musa Al-Maaytah, the head of the board of commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, confirmed on Sunday that the commission's work related to political parties is based on the application of the constitution and the law, emphasizing that it does not interfere in the programs of parties or their political orientations.

Al-Maaytah stated during his talk on the program "Voice of the Kingdom" that "the commission does not interfere in the programs of parties, but if there is anything in these programs or systems that is outside the law or outside the constitution, intervention will occur in such cases".

He added that the commission manages parliamentary and local elections and oversees the affairs of political parties within the legal framework, confirming that its role is not to express opinions or evaluate the political choices of parties.

Al-Maaytah explained that the presence of political parties is inherently a political activity, however, the work of the commission is limited to ensuring compliance with the law and the constitution, without interfering in the political content of parties.

He pointed out that the commission started after the parliamentary elections to review the internal systems of parties, holding meetings with party leaders and think tanks, and it turned out there were observations related to governance, including the concentration of decisions within some parties.

He indicated that executive instructions have been prepared aimed at enhancing internal democracy within parties, and ensuring the election of their bodies and not monopolizing decision-making, noting the existence of judicial appeal cases related to mechanisms for selecting party candidates.

He confirmed that some parties have recorded violations related to regulations or goals that may conflict with the party law and the constitution, emphasizing that the primary reference is the constitution and the law, including matters related to the financing of parties and linking it to parliamentary representation.
