The sea swallows a boat Rescue of 13 Filipinos and search for the missing

Khaberni - The Chinese Coast Guard announced, in a statement, today, Friday, that 8 people are missing after a boat carrying 21 Filipinos capsized in the South China Sea, and the statement reported that the Coast Guard rescued 13 people in the ongoing operation.

The boat capsized about 101 kilometers northwest of Scarborough Shoal, which is one of the most disputed coral reefs in the South China Sea.

The area witnesses frequent encounters between Chinese and Filipino ships, and both countries claim sovereignty over the area and patrol the waters near the coral reefs, which are also claimed by Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei, and Taiwan.

In August last year, a Chinese naval ship accidentally collided with a Chinese Coast Guard ship while trying to counter a Philippine Coast Guard ship near Scarborough Shoal.
