Khaberni - A young British mother recounted details of one of the harshest experiences in her life, after she lost her eight-week-old baby suddenly during his sleep, in an incident that was later classified as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
The mother, Scarlett, 23 years old, said her son Robin Cary was placed in his bed as usual, late at night in preparation to wake up to his crying in the early hours of the morning to feed, which is something she was accustomed to daily.
She added, "I would always wake up as soon as I heard him cry, but this time I opened my eyes at 4:50 AM and when I looked at the time I immediately realized something was wrong, as it had passed his feeding time," according to the British newspaper "The Sun".
She explained that she rushed towards his sleeping basket (Moses basket), to find him unresponsive, saying: "When I looked at him his body was completely motionless, and that was the most shocking and painful situation I've ever been through in my life."
The mother confirmed that she tried to resuscitate her baby herself through CPR before the ambulance arrived and quickly transported him to the hospital, where doctors continued attempts to save him for a full hour, yet Robin was declared dead thereafter.
The doctors attributed the cause of death to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, a condition where a healthy baby dies unexpectedly during sleep, and is most often during the first six months of life.
Scarlett revisited the details of the days leading up to her son's death, noting that she had taken him the previous day to receive his routine vaccinations, indicating that he was uncomfortable afterward, which she described as normal for children.
The mother further explained that her child, Robin, survived complications at birth, grew normally meeting all health indicators, describing him as a true joy and full of life, and said he touched many hearts in a short period, reflecting the energy he possessed.
