Khaberni - Sewage water invaded several residential buildings and homes in eastern Irbid, forcing residents to evacuate their homes due to rising water levels and furniture damage.
The area has been facing tough conditions for days, while the Irbid Electricity Company precautionarily cut off power to several homes, fearing an electrical short circuit.
For its part, Yarmouk Water stated on Friday evening, in a brief statement, "The same line has been subjected to high water levels more than once, repairs and other reasons related to poor usage by sewage companies, and this particular line has been blocked more than once, causing the sewage water to flood the street. The line was cleared and many solid materials were removed from inside the line such as clothing bags and fabrics along with the oils and food remnants that restaurant owners in those areas dispose, which contributed to the blockage."
It added that work is currently underway to resolve the issue.
