Khaberni - Dr. Sofia Kovanova, a nutrition expert, identified the types of bread that are considered the most harmful to health, and that may contribute to weight gain.
According to the expert, white bread made from refined flour, in addition to sweet pastries, are considered the most harmful.
She explains that these types do not provide a feeling of fullness for a long period, and might only be suitable for those who need quick calories and energy, such as before exercise. However, they are not recommended for those looking to lose weight.
She adds: "After consuming white bread, the feeling of fullness does not last long, and hunger soon returns. It also increases the total calories in the diet, while it is almost devoid of vitamins and minerals."
Doctors also advise avoiding white bread in some health conditions, especially during exacerbations of chronic digestive diseases.
Dr. Polina Yartseva, a nutrition expert, points out that it can be replaced with bran bread rich in complex carbohydrates, or whole grain bread that is rich in fiber, or salt-free types that retain less water. You can also consume products rich in iodine and fiber, along with dry bread and dietary types as healthy choices.
