Ministry of Industry Two monitoring periods in the first half of Ramadan and three periods in the second half

Khaberni - The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply has developed a comprehensive plan to prepare for the blessed month of Ramadan, aiming to ensure the availability of food commodities, enhance the food stock, monitor the markets, and maintain price stability throughout the holy month, thereby protecting consumer rights and achieving market balance.

The plan involves dividing the monitoring day into two periods during the first half of Ramadan and three monitoring periods during the second half, including morning, evening, and late-night rounds, especially after mid-month, to ensure market stability and the availability of goods for citizens.

According to the plan, the monitoring rounds will include monitoring the prices and availability of commodities, tracking clearance and discount operations and promotional offers, in addition to receiving citizen complaints and prosecuting violations, transferring them to court according to legal provisions.

In relation to the outcomes of meetings with partners, the ministry stated that the agricultural production of vegetables is good, despite seasonal variations during the winter season due to weather conditions, confirming the availability of sufficient quantities in the markets, with an expected improvement in production and a decrease in prices at the beginning of Ramadan, coinciding with the onset of the new agricultural season.

It also highlighted coordination with the Poultry Producers Association to gradually increase production by up to 30% before Ramadan and during the Eid al-Fitr period to cover the increased demand, in addition to the efforts by consuming institutions to enhance the strategic stock of essential goods and commodities, monitor global price changes, and ensure the regular operation of supply chains and daily stock monitoring.

The ministry confirmed the enhancement of market monitoring teams and coordination with administrative governors to facilitate monitoring operations, alongside holding sectoral meetings with traders and food importers.

The plan is based on a clear legal reference, deriving its powers from the Industry and Trade Law No. (18) of 1998 and the Consumer Protection Law No. (7) of 2017, employing a range of regulatory and monitoring tools to ensure market stability and protect the rights of all parties in the commercial sectors.
