China Husband smashes his house after his wife buys a dishwasher without his consent

Khaberni - A simple domestic dispute over the purchase of a dishwasher turned into a shocking scene of violence, after a husband in southern China smashed the furniture of their rented home, in an incident his wife caught on video and sparked widespread controversy on social media.

The circulating clip, posted by the wife, shows the living room in complete ruin, while she explains how the dispute began after she decided to buy a dishwasher without informing her husband beforehand.

According to "Hindustan Times," the woman, who lives in Guangdong province, bought the appliance on January 8th through an online platform for 1500 yuan (about 215 US dollars), justifying the purchase with the difficulty of manually washing dishes in winter, especially since her husband does not help with household chores.

Discovery of the purchase ignites anger
The husband only learned of the purchase when the installation worker arrived at the apartment, and he immediately asked his wife to cancel the order, citing higher electricity and water costs, but she responded that the price was reasonable and the family could afford it.

As the wife refused to stop the installation process, tensions quickly escalated, turning the dispute into a violent rage, during which the husband smashed the furniture and contents of the living room.

Wife flees
Amid the chaos, the wife left the home in tears and took refuge in a hotel, where she spent the night away from the apartment, later stating that she did not understand why her husband refused to buy an appliance that would ease her daily workload, reaffirming that disputes related to expenses and shopping were recurrent in their marital life.

The husband works away from home and earns about 11,000 yuan a month (about 1600 dollars), while the wife stays at home to take care of their two children.

Apology after the storm
Despite what happened, the wife returned the dishwasher the next day, and afterwards, the husband appeared in another video in which he publicly apologized, saying: "I was in a bad mood, I will treat you better in the future, and we can buy a smaller dishwasher."

Widespread controversy on the internet
The incident sparked a sharp debate on social media in China, where many criticized the husband's violent behavior, noting that financial disputes do not justify domestic violence, while others believed that the wife should consider the family's economic situation before making significant purchasing decisions.
