The UAE House of Representatives Demands Update to State Employees Salaries

Khaberni - The UAE Federal National Council "House of Representatives," today, during its discussion on "Family Protection and its Concept and Entity," requested the activation of Article (11) of Federal Decree-Law No. (49) for the year 2022 on human resources in the federal government, relating to setting a minimum salary upon the first appointment in the lower executive grades, and reviewing and updating the federal government employees' salary scale in accordance with the economic changes in the country along with a periodic review of the salary table every five years.

The council's recommendations for addressing "challenges affecting the formation of UAE families" included the first observation on "media and social communication and their role in spreading foreign ideas". They suggested amending Cabinet Decision No. (68) for the year 2024 regarding the executive regulations of the Federal Decree-Law No. (55) for the year 2023 on media regulation, in cooperation with the Emirates Media Council by adding media content standards, creating a national observatory to monitor the impact of media and digital content on the family, conducting periodic studies to analyze, and launching a national program to support the production of Emirati digital content directed towards families and youth, to enhance the production of local content that reinforces national identity and Emirati values.

The recommendations related to "cost of living and its impact on the formation of Emirati families" stated activating Article (11) of Federal Decree-Law No. (49) for the year 2022 concerning human resources in the federal government, which involves setting a minimum overall salary upon the first appointment in the lower executive grades, reviewing and updating the salary table of federal government employees as approved by Cabinet Decision No. (23) in 2012, aligning it with economic changes in the country, conducting a periodic review of the salary table every five years and presenting a report to the Cabinet, amending Article (6) of Cabinet Decision No. (61) for the year 2021 regarding the terms and conditions of providing housing aid, thereby adding the category of young people about to marry to the categories exempt from the mentioned conditions, studying the inclusion of low-income singles about to marry among the categories benefiting from the National Housing Support Fund (Sakani) services, providing a "temporary housing" category in federal housing programs, in coordination with relevant entities, and preparing long-term strategic plans for allocating and planning land to meet the future housing needs of the citizens.
