Khaberni - Liverpool's coach, Arne Slot, joked about the rumors speculating Xabi Alonso's takeover of the English team, replacing him, saying the Spaniard called him on the phone and informed him that the Liverpool management would sign a contract with him after six months.
Slot is facing a wave of criticism due to the team's decline during the first half of the season, and he received a question about Alonso's position and his close relationship with Liverpool after leaving Real Madrid a few days ago.
The Dutch coach said laughingly during a press conference on Tuesday: "Yes, this happened, he called me to ask: What do you think of the team because I will be taking over in six months?" before continuing the joke "and maybe before that, it's better if it happens tomorrow."
Then Slot spoke in a serious tone, confirming that this was one of the "strangest" questions he had received.
He continued: "I don't know what to tell you.. I've been here for almost a year, I like my job a lot, I won the league last year and things are not going as we hoped this year, I don't know if I can tell you anything else."
