Khaberni - The Greater Irbid Municipality has announced the Central Market of Irbid project as a unique investment opportunity to enhance the services provided to the citizens in the northern governorates, with a tangible developmental impact, contributing to the support of the local economy, development of the marketing system, and providing new job and employment opportunities.
The Central Market of Irbid project is one of the national priority projects, through the establishment of a modern specialized market for vegetables and fruits, serving as an integrated agricultural logistic center that serves the northern governorates of the kingdom. It contributes to the development of the agricultural marketing system and improves its efficiency, in line with national policies for food safety and sustainable economic development.
The project also aims to develop modern infrastructure for wholesale agricultural markets, improve the quality and safety of agricultural products, enhance refrigeration chains, reduce post-harvest loss, increase trading and distribution efficiency, support farmers and traders, enhance the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, and attract private sector investments and strengthen institutional partnerships.
The project is located on a land owned by both the Greater Irbid Municipality and Bani Obeid Municipality in the South Um Al-Abar area within Irbid Governorate. The site enjoys a strategic location due to its proximity to major agricultural production areas and national and regional road networks.
The Greater Irbid Municipality invites local and international companies, either individually or within consortia, to present technical and financial bids to participate in designing, financing, constructing, operating, maintaining, and transferring the ownership of a new market known as the Central Market of Irbid ("the Project"), using the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Maintain and Transfer (DBFOMT) model for a concession period of twenty (20) years. The Greater Irbid Municipality will represent itself and the Bani Obeid Municipality for the purposes of the project.
