Facing this expected rise which ranges between 10 and 20%, the economic expert urged consumers to abandon "strict shopping lists" and to adopt flexibility.
He called for taking advantage of promotional offers and available alternatives, instead of clinging to specific items whose prices now exceed purchasing power.
Hanrahan concluded his warning with a firm tone saying: "We cannot wait for prices to decrease automatically, while we stand by idly; flexibility in shopping is the consumer's only weapon currently."
