The World Bank disburses 111 million for the Social Protection Program in Jordan

Khaberni - The World Bank said it has disbursed $111 million for the "Resilient and Sustainable Social Protection" program in Jordan, from a total funding of $400 million, with a spending rate reaching 27.75%.

According to an evaluation report for the program, the program has achieved a satisfactory start and began delivering measurable results in improving outcomes for beneficiaries and enhancing systems, with the progress in implementation and achievement of the developmental objective of the program being rated as "satisfactory".

The report confirmed that the main government actions have been launched across all result areas, reflecting a clear commitment to the program implementation, alongside enhancing institutional arrangements.

The report also mentioned the start of work on transitional arrangements for the complaint mechanism to ensure its effectiveness and responsiveness during the transition period, which supports timely handling of complaints and maintains stakeholder engagement, including sensitive cases.

The report explained that the National Aid Fund has completed adopting a policy paper on economic empowerment with a detailed action plan, which was finalized in December 2025, while the launch of the Jordan Social Register (JSR) by the Ministry of Social Development is expected by June 2026, after it had been scheduled for completion by the end of 2025.

According to its developmental objective, the program aims to enhance Jordan's ability to respond to shocks, with improving the support provided to the most needy population segments.

The program works to expand the scope of cash assistance, enhance the delivery of digital services, and connect social protection program beneficiaries with services in education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

It also aims to provide support through cash transfers to about 1.2 million people from the most needy categories, provide health insurance for about 150 thousand people, deliver services to one million individuals through early warning and response systems, enable up to 1.35 million people to use new digital services within the social protection system, alongside supporting related programs through partnerships and joint funding through the Social Care Fund and institutional social contributions.
