Walla Hebrew Israel Received Invitation from Trump to Join Peace Council

Khaberni - A political source confirmed to the Israeli site "Walla" that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received an official invitation from the United States, initiated by President Donald Trump, to join the "Peace Council in Gaza".

The "Peace Council" was first introduced by US President Donald Trump in September last year as part of his plan to end the fighting in Gaza, and since then it has been expanded to include a broader international mandate. The "Gaza Executive Council" is supposed to operate under its umbrella, tasked with managing, rebuilding, and stabilizing the sector on "the day after".

Despite the invitation to this advisory forum, Israel has expressed strong reservations about the formation of the executive council as presented by the White House last week. The core of the disagreement lies in the inclusion of Turkey and Qatar; both countries are strongly opposed by Israel to their participation in the sector.

In a speech delivered today at the Knesset, Netanyahu addressed the political tensions and made it clear that he does not hesitate to stick to his principles in front of the American administration, stating, "There will be no Turkish soldiers nor Qatari soldiers in the sector." He added, "We have a specific disagreement with our friends in the United States about the formation of the advisory council that will accompany operations in Gaza, and I am setting this dispute clearly on the platform."

Netanyahu considered that the disagreements do not harm his personal relationship with the American president, saying: "It is possible for us to argue and reach agreements. This by no means detracts from my close relationship with Trump based on friendship and candor. He has described me as 'the tough guy' and I take that as a compliment; I am capable of sticking to my opinion when required."

In the meantime, while Netanyahu manages the policy towards Trump, he has left the management of the detailed disagreement to the Foreign Ministry for Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who will communicate with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

According to "Walla", Israel's invitation places it at the heart of the Trump administration's political initiative, but it also highlights "the red lines" of Tel Aviv. At this stage, no decision on joining has yet been made, and the response is still under study by political levels, with negotiations expected to deepen with Washington in the coming days.
