Amman Arab University Pharmacy enhances practical assessment for pharmacy students through the structured clinical exam

Khaberni - In the context of the commitment of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University to provide distinguished pharmaceutical education, the field training committee in the college organized the structured Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as part of the practical evaluation plan for the first semester of the academic year 2025/2026. The OSCE is a primary method in assessing students' performance within field training courses. It was designed according to the latest global standards to ensure a comprehensive and accurate assessment of student abilities, which included a variety of practical stations that tested students' skills in clinical assessment, pharmaceutical advising, clinical problem-solving, and effective patient communication.
Evaluators for the students included Dr. Ahmad Al-Rasasi and Dr. Nidal Al-Muhtaseb, members of the Faculty of Pharmacy Council, as external evaluators from the pharmaceutical field, contributing to the clinical performance assessment of the students based on accredited academic standards, enhancing the objectivity and quality of the evaluation. The exam was conducted in an organized academic environment, with the participation of faculty members and field training supervisors, where the students showed a good level of readiness and competence in handling the presented clinical cases, reflecting the quality of the academic and training preparation provided by the faculty.
In this context, Professor Dr. Rana Abu Haweij, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University, emphasized the college's ongoing commitment to developing the educational and training process, and its focus on applying modern assessment methods that contribute to enhancing students' levels and clinical competencies. She pointed to the importance of the structured clinical exam as one of the fundamental pillars in assessing field training outputs, due to its pivotal role in enhancing practical skills of the students and linking theoretical aspects with clinical application, in line with modern pharmaceutical education standards.
This step is part of the continuous efforts made by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Amman Arab University to elevate the level of pharmaceutical education and clinical training, and to prepare qualified pharmaceutical personnel who meet the requirements of the job market and keep up with professional developments and American accreditation frameworks.
