Blair Distances Himself from 1 Billion Fee for Membership in Trumps Peace Council

Khaberni - Tony Blair, the former British Prime Minister who was appointed to the executive body of the Peace Council headed by US President Donald Trump, distances himself from the president's demand that countries pay one billion dollars for permanent membership in the council.

Blair refused to support the fee request, which is part of the draft charter of the emerging council, in an additional sign that the details of the Peace Council are meeting opposition from America's allies and partners in Trump's project, according to Bloomberg News.

A spokesman for Tony Blair said on Sunday that Blair is not involved in determining the members of the council, indicating that he will not publicly support the fee proposal.

The spokesperson added that any inquiries about the billion dollar fee should be directed to the Trump administration.

Sources familiar with the matter said that it is likely that some countries will refuse to join the council due to Trump's conditions.

The sources added that other countries might agree in principle to join the Peace Council but refuse to pay the fees for permanent membership.
