The growth of trade exchange between Jordan and Qatar by 55 reflects the depth of bilateral cooperation relations

Khaberni - The Jordanian-Qatari relations continue to consolidate their ascending approach on various levels, based on the visions and directives of the leaderships of the two brotherly countries, especially in the economic and investment fields.

The meetings of the fifth session of the Jordanian-Qatari Joint High Committee embodied this orientation by signing a package of memorandums of understanding and executive programs aimed at expanding the horizons of bilateral cooperation and enhancing partnership to serve mutual interests and keep pace with development requirements in both countries.

The Jordanian-Qatari Joint High Committee held its meetings today, Sunday, in Amman, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in a true translation of the visions of both leaderships.

Regarding trade relations between the two brotherly countries, the volume of trade between Jordan and Qatar since the beginning of last year until the end of October reached about 190.1 million dinars, registering an increase of approximately 55 percent compared to the same period in 2024.

This remarkable growth reflects the accelerated development in the bilateral economic relations, the increasing pace of exports and imports between the two sides, along with the expansion of areas of trade cooperation, contributing to enhancing the economic partnership and supporting the mutual interests of the two countries.

According to statistics from the Amman Chamber of Commerce; the volume of exports during the same period amounted to 100.5 million dinars, compared to imports valued at 90.6 million dinars.

Jordan imports from Qatar ordinary metals and their products such as raw aluminum, plastics and their products, rubber and its products such as polymers and ethylene, wood pulp and products for the chemical industries and related industries such as pharmaceutical preparations, food products, transport equipment, materials for optics and photographic equipment, leather, antiques, live animals, and others.

Jordan exports to Qatar kingdom's vegetable products and products of chemical industries or industries related to them, such as pharmaceuticals, food industry products like meat preparations, live animals, textile materials, leathers, fats, and oils from animal or vegetable sources, and others.

The volume of Qatari investments in Jordan is estimated at 3.19 billion dinars distributed across a range of vital sectors, primarily the financial sector, real estate, tourism, energy, and industry. These investments contribute to supporting the national economy, promoting economic growth, creating new job opportunities, in addition to their role in transferring expertise and developing the infrastructure in several strategic fields, reflecting the strength of the economic partnership between the two brotherly countries and their keenness to expand the horizons of joint investment cooperation.

Jordan and Qatar are connected by several agreements signed by Jordan within a comprehensive framework to strengthen bilateral relations in various political, economic, social, and cultural fields.

The agreements include cooperation in the fields of investment, air and sea transport, avoidance of double taxation, and protection and encouragement of investments, as well as cooperation in health, media, cultural, and tourism.

Funds and joint investment projects have also been established between Jordan and Qatar, aimed at supporting the Jordanian economy and enhancing growth rates, alongside contributing to creating new job opportunities for Jordanians in various sectors.

These efforts include organizing the conditions of Jordanian labor in the State of Qatar, ensuring their labor rights, improving their professional and living conditions, and enhancing their job stability and efficiency, within the framework of bilateral cooperation that ensures protection of mutual interests and support of human resources in both brotherly countries.

The relations between the two brotherly countries are framed by a set of memorandums of understanding that include areas of social development, charitable work, youth and sports, academic exchange, alongside other fields of cooperative development.

These memorandums aim to enhance communication between official and civil institutions in both countries, exchange expertise, and support joint initiatives that contribute to community development and youth empowerment, reflecting the depth of brotherly ties and mutual commitment to expanding cooperation in various fields.
