Shoman announces the start of receiving applications for the Arab Researchers Award for the year 2026

Khaberni - The scientific council for the Abdul Hameed Shoman Arab Researchers Award has announced the opening of applications for the award in its 44th edition for the year 2026, noting that the final deadline for submitting applications is March 31, 2026.

The award fields include: "Medical and Health Sciences" which covers genomic medicine and precision medicine, telemedicine, and digital health; "Engineering and Technological Sciences" which includes smart electric grid technology, green hydrogen applications and derivatives; "Basic Sciences" which involves artificial intelligence, smart earth monitoring, smart mathematical modeling and its applications; "Human, Social, and Educational Sciences" which includes studies on memory, emotional and social intelligence in the educational system; and "Water, Energy, and Food Sciences" which covers soil health and fertility management, circular economy, and energy efficiency in sustainable agriculture; and "Economic and Administrative Sciences", which includes financial and managerial disclosure, and supply chain management.

The award is granted in recognition of distinguished scientific production in the five years prior to the nomination, which through its publication and dissemination increases scientific and applied knowledge, contributes to solving locally, regionally, and globally priority problems, and promotes a culture of scientific research. It consists of a certificate that includes the name of the award and the winner, the field they won in, a monetary prize of 20,000 USD, and a shield bearing the name and logo of the award.

The scientific council for the award emphasized that the nominations require the applicant to be of Arab nationality or descent, be alive at the time of applying, provide scientifically and socially valuable research for science and society, and submit an overview of their scientific contribution in both Arabic and English, especially from the years 2021 to 2025.

The council pointed out that the research submitted for the award should have been accomplished in an Arab country, and clarified that master's and doctoral theses are not included in the evaluation of the applicant's scientific output.

The council required that the scientific output submitted by applicants be sent electronically through registration and application for the award via the electronic system available on the institution's website at: (https://shoman.org/ResearchersAward), accompanied by required documents and information in the form prepared for that purpose, with strict adherence to the instructions for filling out the mentioned form to facilitate the work of the evaluators.

The scientific output submitted and accepted for winning the award is evaluated by juries constituted by the scientific council of the award from experts based on criteria ensuring the objectivity and credibility of the award results. The committees make reasoned decisions in selecting the winners of the award or withholding it.

The Shoman Award for Arab Researchers comes from the foundation's belief that societies cannot progress without science, without enhancing it in various aspects of life, and aims to prepare a generation of Arab researchers, experts, and specialists in various scientific fields, in addition to contributing to the support and activation of Arab scientific research.

The Abdul Hameed Shoman Arab Researchers Award is the first Arab award concerned with scientific research and honoring Arab researchers since 1982. It aims to support scientific research and highlight it throughout the Arab homeland, and participate in preparing and inspiring a generation of Arab researchers, experts, and specialists working under the limited possibilities of institutions, universities, and individuals.

Since the launch of the award in 1982 up to this day, the number of candidates for it has reached 7,169 researchers from various parts of the Arab world and beyond. A total of 506 winners were awarded in various fields and subjects of the award, in recognition of their outstanding scientific achievements across different knowledge fields.
