WhatsApp tests cover photo feature to give your account a complete visual identity

Khaberni - WhatsApp recently tested a series of new updates that target improving the user experience, enhancing visual identity, and easing communication within the app, through two different features related to profiles and group chats.

WhatsApp cover photo
The tests began with adding a profile cover photo option, a feature that allows users, both individuals and WhatsApp Business accounts, to attach a wide image that appears beside or on top of the main account photo.

This update aimed to provide a greater visual space that reflects personal or business identity, while maintaining simplicity in the user interface.

The beta versions allowed uploading cover photos through the profile editing menu on both iOS and Android systems, with flexibility in image dimensions and associated privacy options.

The new feature focused on supporting customization without compromising security, as it provided advanced settings to control who can see the cover photo, with the possibility of changing or removing it at any time.

This helped business accounts to unify the visual identity through brand colors or temporary campaigns, while giving individual users an additional means of visual expression.

Developing group chats
Simultaneously, WhatsApp tested another update related to group chats, working to enable new members to view the message history when joining any group.

This update addressed one of the major issues that deprived new joiners from knowing the context of previous discussions.

Available information explained that the system allows sharing messages from the last 24 hours, with the possibility of setting a maximum number of messages to avoid data usage, while keeping the full encryption feature intact.

WhatsApp gave group admins full control over activating this option through permission settings, without requiring any additional steps from the new member.
