Syrian Defense Minister Warns Against Violations Towards Civilians and Their Properties During West Euphrates Operations

Khaberni - The Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasrah emphasized the necessity for the Syrian Army personnel to maintain the highest levels of discipline during the execution of military operations in the areas west of the Euphrates River.

The minister stated in a speech directed to the armed forces coinciding with the entry of the Syrian Army into areas west of the Euphrates River as part of the agreement with “the Syrian Democratic Forces”: “Protecting civilians and safeguarding their properties is a national responsibility from which there is no retreat”.

He added in his statement through a post on his “X” platform account: “To the heroes of the Syrian Arab Army, be as we have always known you to be, a model in discipline and commitment, accurately executing instructions and orders, faithful to your responsibility of protecting civilians and safeguarding their properties, and careful not to allow any transgression or mistreatment of any person irrespective of their nationality or affiliation”.

He added: “The Syrian people, in all its spectrums, is a trust upon your necks, so be loyal soldiers to Syria and its people”.

On another note, the Operations Authority in the Syrian Arab Army announced that “the area west of the Euphrates has become a closed military zone”, following the targeting of PKK elements to the army units during the implementation of the agreement.

The Authority, according to “SANA” agency, urged civilians in the area to “immediately stay away from the locations of PKK terrorist militias and remnants of the defunct regime, allies of the SDF organization”.

The Syrian Army continues to take over the agreed-upon areas, despite the breaches that occurred during the implementation, while there have been reports of clashes in the city of Tabqah in Raqqa Province.
