Al-Ahdab shared the details of the incident on his account on the platform «X», warning against this fraudulent method, where "the scammer asks for the victim's ID card to photograph it under the pretext of opening a file, then requests to see all the cards in their wallet to photograph them, and clearly, he is only interested in the banking cards".
Al-Ahdab explained that he checked with the Cybercrime Department at the Ministry of Interior in Doha, where they confirmed to him that the police do not conduct any interviews with the public via video calls.
The Al Jazeera anchor added that when he asked the scam caller to show his card, he presented a fake card, so Nazeih Al-Ahdab took a photo of it, then asked the scammer to send the request through the «Matrash» government app, causing the scammer to immediately terminate the call.
Al-Ahdab urged vigilance against such methods and advised to alert simple people in their surroundings to avoid falling victim to such crimes.
